After that, he spent a decade running overland safari trips from Cape Town through South Africa and as far afield as Uganda, taking travelers on epic journeys to the heart of the continent.
In search of new horizons, Valdy then relocated to the UK, where he managed an eco-adventure trails company near Brighton. There, he continued to hone his skills in sustainable tourism, emphasizing outdoor adventure and environmental responsibility.
But Africa's wilderness always called him back. Valdy returned to South Africa and founded Treks & Trails, a business born from his deep-rooted desire to connect people with nature and local cultures.
It was during a hike along the Wild Coast when he met Lovombo, a passionate local guide leading a tour along the coast. Lovombo’s clients were loving the experience, and Valdy was struck by the impact of local guiding on the community—offering not just unforgettable experiences for tourists, but also opportunities for local guides to thrive and uplift their communities. This interaction sparked an idea.
